About
Us
The Natural Mind Dharma Center
is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering the teachings
and practices of the Nyingma tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism.

Padmasambhava
Our lineage is traced to Padmasambhava,
an eighth century master of Tantra and Dzogchen. He, along with
King Trisong Deutsen and Scholar Shankarashita, established the
first Buddhist monastery in Tibet at Samye. Under Padmasambhava's
guidance, the Dharma blossomed into a magical display of wisdom
and compassion.

Lady Yeshe Tsogyal
One of Padmasambhava's closest
students, Lady Yeshe Tsogyal, recorded and transmitted much of
what he taught. She also helped to preserve the teachings for
future generations. Yeshe Tsogyal went on to become a great healer
and spiritual mentor to many.

The Khenpos
Our living lineage masters are
Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and his brother, Khenpo Tsewang
Dongyal Rinpoche (informally, the "Khenpos"), founders
of the Padmasambhava Buddhist Centers around the
world. They are masters of meditation and hold an honored place
in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhist teachers

Michael Scott Stevens
Founder/Director of the Dharma
center, Michael has a degree in Religious Studies and an extensive
background in psychology, yoga, meditation, and nature studies.
He established the first Yoga center in Bend and the Natural Mind
Dharma Center is the first Buddhist center in Central Oregon.
In addition to guiding practices
at the center, Michael teaches classes on foundational Buddhist
studies and meditation through Central Oregon Community College,
the Bend-LaPine School District, Hospice, and many other venues.
Michael's dream is to create a
retreat center dedicated to the Nyingma lineage that provides
support for dharma practitioners of all traditions.
